1. An abortion is a medical procedure that ends a pregnancy; it can be done surgically or with medicines. Some individuals might decide to have an abortion because of medical reasons; these reasons can include the mother’s and the fetus’s health concerns, their financial situation, or occasionally the fact that the pregnancy was caused by rape or incest. (Clifton, 2021) Regarding the subject of abortion and the procedure itself, we ought to consider the consequences and assess how the mother and fetus will survive in the end and whether or not they will gain anything from it. Because an abortion involves ending the life of a fetus, some people may view it as murder. Pro-lifers believe that abortion is ethically wrong since it is equivalent to committing murder. Pro-choice advocates hold that women should have the autonomy to decide what to do with their bodies, that mothers should have the right to a safe medical procedure, and that each woman should have the right to a personal situation based on her current socioeconomic status or method of reproduction.
2. I don’t think that abortion is morally wrong, because I see it from the women’s rights and bodily autonomy side of things. I think that if a woman decides that she cannot or should not have a child at that point of her life, that she should have the choice to terminate the pregnancy. There are several reasons, emotional, medical, financial, situational, whatever, that can dictate a woman’s choice in the matter, and I think that she should have the right to decide what happens with her body.
Some people believe that a fetus is a life and should be protected as such, and I think that’s a valid perspective. They think that because a fetus is a person and a life just like any other, they should not be aborted, because it would be violating the nursing principle of non maleficence, which is the concept of doing no harm (Nita & Ilie, 2020).
