This assignment concerns one issue but draws on your knowledge of all eight weeks. The issue is: the two-state solution.
Status Report: Is the Two-State Solution Dead?
There is much debate about this question, even though many experts feel the debate has essentially died. (See for example: https://www.foreignaffairs.com/ask-the-experts/2021-08-24/two-state-solution-still-viable).
A good measure of one’s understanding of a problem is the ability to explain both sides of a debate. For this final assignment, you will produce a status report that assesses the status of the two-state solution. You’ll present competing perspectives on its status using peer-reviewed sources and reputable research reports.
Title your report, “Is the two-state solution dead?” The contents will have two sections, two pages each: 1: “Yes, the two-state solution is dead,” and 2: “No, the two-state solution is still viable.” In part one, you may wish to reference alternative solutions, but make sure these are timely and supported by recent sources and scholarly discussions (you don’t want to advance retired and outdated debates).
Length: Devote 2 pages two each side (4 pages total, not including a reference list at the end)
Format: Times 12, double-spaced, one-inch margins
Supporting sources: This assignment should be supported by five peer-reviewed sources total, including class readings and three additional peer-reviewed studies or reputable reports from research institutes. Your answers will be evaluated on the strength of the sources as much as the arguments. You can use the university library and its databases to locate peer-reviewed articles on this topic, as well as other databases:
