Research and write an essay on a musical or film noir from the list below. Consider the film in the context of its genre and/or cycle, i.e., what makes it distinctive and what makes it similar to other films with its style and from its era. The essay should be 500-800 words, and apply cited research from at least three sources, which can include movie reviews. (Use a proper citation style, and include a complete bibliography at the end of the essay.) One of your sources must be scholarly in nature, such as a film research journal or a book. Develop a specific thesis about the film, and be sure to foreground your argument by making a case for the significance of the film. In any case, be sure to support your claims with examples from the film.
