Day 1
Admitting Nurse- shadowing admitting nurse during the patient’s admission process. Observing Head-to-Toe assessments and other admission assessments.
Day 2
Nurse Practitioner- will be shadowing NP for new patient admission. Observing NP on managing new patient’s medication/ treatment plans.
Day 3
Social Worker- will be shadowing the social worker on how they manage patient’s care plan and process of discharging patient’s out to the community

Personal and Professional Growth and Development: Reflect on how you observed the ‘art of nursing’ or relevant professional practices during the day. Discuss how these observations contribute to your personal and professional growth, and how they might influence your future practice.
Grading Criteria:
Project Report Log and Journal Submission requirements
The Project Reporting Log contains 22.5 documented and validated hours at an AFE Community site(s) by a site coordinator. Each written journal entry submission is 3 paragraphs and reflects the individual learner’s personal thoughts and observations. Each AFE experience is represented by a journal entry.
Professional Competence
For each experience, in a single paragraph, the learner is descriptive, concise, and professional in their thoughts. Articulates effectively to the prompt ‘Discuss what went well today. Describe interpersonal interactions you witnessed or in which you participated’ during the day’s AFE hours.
Challenging Situations
For each experience, in a single paragraph, the learner is descriptive, concise, and professional in their thoughts. Articulates effectively to the prompts ‘Describe any challenges or difficult situations you observed. Include the reason(s) for the challenge and the potential underlying cause(s). If you are faced with a similar challenge in the future, how will you react/act differently?’ Learner demonstrates insight into the challenging situation and shares how they would react differently in the future if faced with a similar challenge.
Personal and Professional Growth and Development
For each experience, in a single paragraph, the learner is descriptive, concise, and professional in their thoughts. Articulates effectively to the prompt ‘Discuss how you observed the ‘art of nursing’. How will this influence your future professional practice?’.
