Use 12-point Times New Roman font, double-spaced.

Perspective:
Your task is to write an opinion piece on a local issue with national implications, or a national issue with local implications, relating to a government or constitutional concept covered this semester (e.g. checks and balances, powers of each branch, elections, amendments, Supreme Court cases, rights, etc.). Clearly explain the connection between the two.  In essence, this is a paper on federalism (the balance of power between the national government and the state government. 
Guidelines:
Explain the importance of the issue in an accessible manner.
Provide evidence to support any praise or criticism.
State your opinion on what should be done, providing good reasons to back up your suggestions.
Ensure your paper is clear, concise, and factual.
