5) Is nursing primarily an art or a science? Why? Please utilize Galen’s method of distinguishing disciplines (and the way these distinctions were adapted and developed in Lecture 4b) to explain your answer.
6) You must provide criteria (in the form of a definition) of what makes something an art and what makes something a science in order to justify your explanation of whether or not nursing is a science or art.
7) How is nursing situated within and among other fields or disciplines? Is it a branch or sub-discipline of a “higher” discipline? If so, what is this “higher” discipline?
8) Are there other disciplines included in the “higher” discipline identified which are “adjacent” to nursing? If so, what are they? What makes them similar to nursing? What makes them different?
9) Are there other branches or “lower” disciplines included within nursing? If so, what are they? How is it that they are all part of nursing but still distinguishable from each other?
10) The goal is to construct a “small” map (either verbal or visual) of where nursing fits in with other proximate disciplines.
