Guided Imagery
As you work through the various modules in this course, part of your responsibility will be to integrate aspects of what you are learning into your practice of developing activities for your own students now or when you become a teacher. This week’s focus is on creating a guided imagery activity for your students. Your text provides you with excellent guidelines and examples of guided imagery scriipts, how to create them, etc.
Complete the Following
Complete your Edwards, Chapter 3 reading focusing on the aspects of developing a guided imagery scriipt for children.
Create your own guided imagery scriipt for a preprimary audience (identify the audience you are targeting)
Provide a rationale for how you chose the topic of the guided imagery
Identify at least one follow on activity that would utilize the guided imagery the students experienced in an artistic experience (see page 77 of your Edwards text)
Try out the guided imagery scenario you create by reading the scriipt out loud to yourself or asking a friend to read it to you; then write about your experience by answering the following questions:
How did you feel during the guided imagery experience?
What picture(s) did you have in your mind as you went through the process?
What things (if any) did you revise in your scriipt after experiencing it yourself? Did you add or delete any passages? Why?
When using this scriipt with children, how would you help ensure a positive guided imagery experience for them? List at least three specific examples.
Provide the complete guided imagery as well as your reflection in your post to the Guided Imagery Discussion to share with your peers.
Answer the above questions in 2 or more paragraphs
