Instructions Desсrіption: The Annotated Bibliography assignment requires an annotation of 8 research studies. The purpose of each annotation is to summarize major elements of each study, and inform the reader on the quality and relevance of the sources. This is an important step in the literature review process as the Annotated Bibliography is an opportunity for you to review and begin organizing the research for your upcoming paper. The studies used within this assignment will also be used for your Literature Review Paper. It will be important to note any feedback provided by your professor on use of sources in this assignment, and for preparing for the Literature Review Paper assignment. Requirements for selecting studies: Research studies must be timely and current (published within 5-10 years), relate to the selected topic of interest, be published in a professional, peer-reviewed journal, and retrievable via library databases. The articles for the annotated bibliography should be research studies. Systematic reviews (including integrative reviews, meta-synthesis, and meta-analysis) may be utilized. Some publications evidence/should be avoided for this assignment: Avoid Clinical Practice Guidelines (these however are considered high levels of evidence and may be included within your literature review paper). Avoid Case studies Avoid Theoretical papers and literature reviews Avoid Quality Improvement projects *Consult with your professor if you have questions on use of specific studies or publications. Your annotated references should include the following components for each reference: Complete citation of source in APA format. A brief summary of the article (including subject, authors′ theory and/or hypothesis, methodology, findings, and summary of key points). A statement explaining why this specific study is relevant and/or significant to your chosen research topic. Formatting instructions: 1. Create a title page, followed by the body of the paper, which are the annotated bibliographies. See APA 7th ed. manual p. 61 for sample of a title page/format. 2. Give your paper a simple title based on the main ideas of your bibliography. You may choose to include “Annotated Bibliography” within the title, but be sure the title also includes your topic information. For example: Oncological Care Delays During COVID-19: An Annotated Bibliography 3. Arrange your articles in alphabetical order by the last name of the first author, similar to the way you would list them on a reference page. List the reference citation in APA format and then follow that with the summary of the article. Note- a reference page is not necessary for this type of paper. 4. Your article summaries should be approximately 250 words in length. Each annotation should be indented 1/2 ″ (like a paragraph) following the first line of the reference (the first line of your reference is left-justified). Summaries should contain few, if any, direct quotes. 5. Correct APA 7th edition style and format is required, as well as proper grammar, sentence structure, citation, and punctuation. 6. Writing should be objective; do not use first-person (for example, I, me, my…). 7. The paper should be a word document typed in a font that is consistent throughout the paper and follows APA 7th ed. guidelines (refer to APA manual p. 44 section 2.19 for options). Paper should be double-spaced throughout. Insert an extra space between the end of one summary and the citation for the next summary. Do not number the entries. 8. Create your paper as a word document and upload it as an attachment to the submission area. Microsoft word (doc or docx) is the default word processing software for the college. Also refer to APA manual p. 307 (Section 9.51) for additional desсrіption/review of annotated bibliographies; a sample can be found on p. 308 (Figure 9.3).
