Mind: Zoom Class Session 1 of 3 (Asynchronous Alternative)
If you attended the Zoom class session and fully participated (which is tracked in the Nearpod assessment reports), you will receive full points. In that case, you do not need to do anything to complete this assignment.
For anyone who missed the Zoom class session, please see the directions for the alternative Zoom class session below.
As a “Mind” support for building our critical thinking skills through visible brainstorming that shows what is typically our invisible thoughts in our minds, we discussed how there is not a wrong way to show your brainstorming as long as someone else understands what you mean. In other words, if your brainstorming was just a drawing of red square and blue circle, that would take too much work to interpret. Your brainstorming, no matter what form you choose in the classes you take needs to clearly communicate what you have been thinking about. With that in mind, we reviewed and completed engagement checkpoints with the Nearpods below. For those of you who were absent, you need to complete all of the steps below.
Nearpod Link for Brainstorming Opinion Topic that is Focused on One’s Self. Watch Slide 3 (which has a video on it) of the linked Nearpod and read all of the other slides of that Nearpod. After you watch and read that Nearpod (using teacher mode to view, which should happen automatically with that link), write a 5-sentence paragraph about you think you main ideas of the Nearpod were and how the skills mentioned might help you with brainstorming self-focused ideas in this class and beyond.
Nearpod Link for Brainstorming Opinion Topic that is Focused on Community. Watch Slide 3 (which has a video on it) of the linked Nearpod and read all of the other slides of that Nearpod. After you watch and read that Nearpod (using teacher mode to view, which should happen automatically with that link), write a 5-sentence paragraph about you think you main ideas of the Nearpod were and how the skills mentioned might help you with brainstorming community-focused ideas in this class and beyond.
Nearpod Link for Organizer Research with a Web Organizer. Watch Slide 3 (which has a video on it) of the linked Nearpod and read all of the other slides of that Nearpod. After you watch and read that Nearpod (using teacher mode to view, which should happen automatically with that link), write a 5-sentence paragraph about you think you main ideas of the Nearpod were and how the skills mentioned might help you with brainstorming research-focused ideas in this class and beyond.
In 3-5 sentences answer the following question. Given that we just learned about brainstorming and advocating for community change through writing, what is a change you would like to see at CCC?
Submission Guidelines: Submit a .docx or .pdf file in MLA format that answers all four steps above, and be sure to number each of the four steps. Therefore, your 5-sentence response about brainstorming focused on the self will be numbered 1. Your 5-sentence response about brainstorming focused on community will be numbered 2. Your 5-sentence response about brainstorming focused on research will be numbered 3. Your 3-5 sentence response about community change at CCC will be numbered 4. This assignment will be approximately 1 double-space page long.
