Please review the “Pathways Explained” Powerpoint (don’t forget to listen to the audio for each slide!), read the rubric, and review the entire assignment document prior to beginning the assignment.
You must submit all of the following to receive full credit:
1) Data triangulation chart
2) Problem behavior pathway
3) Competing behavior pathway
4) Hypothesis statement about the function (NOTE: The hypothesis statement is a unique component that is separate from the function statement in the data triangulation chart)
5) Detailed intervention recommendations based on the stated function (NOTE: The intervention recommendation is a unique component that is separate from the competing behavior pathway)
Please use the Interview, scatterplot, and ABC data located on Page 3 of the attached assignment document to complete a data triangulation chart, problem behavior pathway, and competing behavior pathway; state a hypothesis about the function; and formulate intervention recommendations based on the stated function.
You should provide a detailed, function-based intervention based on the information that is presented in the attached document. On the Intervention recommendation section, please read the directions thoroughly to be sure that you are providing sufficient information on this part. Make sure to provide Antecedent strategies, Replacement behaviors, and Consequence based strategies. When you state a proposed strategy, discuss how it will be implemented. For replacement behaviors, discuss how each will be taught (replacement behavior section) in addition to how it will be reinforced (consequence strategies section). You will need to provide enough detail that a stranger could pick up your document and know exactly how to implement the antecedent strategies, identify the alternative behavior, teach the alternative behavior, respond to the alternative behavior, and respond to the target problem behavior.
Please make sure you refrain from recommending punishment-based or potentially punishing interventions (e.g., contingent restraint, response cost, timeout etc.). These can be appropriate recommendations under some circumstances, but should not be your first course of action. Additionally, these types of recommendations are often misapplied and can result in serious harm to your learners if not monitored very closely. Also, remember to discuss the consequences when challenging behavior does occur.
Please only submit the completed template starting on Page 17 of the attached document for the data triangulation chart, problem behavior pathway, competing behavior pathway and intervention recommendations. Note: An example is available on page 21.
