Students are required to watch one episode of the documentary series, “Kids Behind Bars – Life or Parole” put on by A&E; it is up to the student to decide which episode to watch, as there have been two full seasons of the show to-date. If the student has a cable provider or streaming service with A&E included, the student can access full episodes at https://play.aetv.com/shows/kids-behind-bars/season-1 or https://play.aetv.com/shows/kids-behind-bars/season-2 If the student does NOT have a cable provider or streaming service with A&E included, students should go to YouTube and type in “Kids Behind Bars full episodes,” and choose an available episode to watch. After watching the episode, students are required to write a reflection essay. Essays are the student’s reflection of the documentary and need to be double spaced and comply with APA style.  The student needs to identify what was viewed, discussed, and/or presented and relate that experience to information from Chapter 11 of the textbook. Specifically discuss if there were any due process issues, if you agreed with the original sentence, and what you think a new sentence (if any) should be.Be sure to cite your sources. Essays will be graded for proper spelling, grammar, and punctuation as well. This Essay will be worth up to 15 points; in order to receive full credit for it, students must turn it in by 11:59pm on 9/6/24.
