Construct a thesis-driven essay that argues how The Inferno represents the culture’s response to human experiences and how those responses can be utilized by modern audiences to understand forms of leadership. You will need to address the following in your essay:
Identify the hero figure in the work and why you feel the character is heroic (Feel free to make your own definition of hero, but it should be clear how you characterize heroism.)
Discuss how the hero reflects important aspects of his/her culture. Why is this figure a strong representation of cultural ideals?
What struggle does the hero face? 
Explain why
The Inferno is still relevant to today’s world. What can modern audiences learn from the text?
Criteria:
Length: 800-1000 words
This should be a close reading essay and should use as evidence primarily passages from the story or stories that you discuss. 
At least two outside, scholarly sources. (3 Sources Attached)
The essay should be in MLA essay format  and use MLA citations. 
A works cited entry and in-text citations for each text discussed are required.
The essay should be focused on making a debatable claim about the text(s) in question; informational essays or essays consisting of summary are not appropriate. The claim should be supported with discussion of specific passages from the text(s) on which the essay is focused.
