The purpose of this five to six page essay is for students to explore and explain a concern impacting older adults, as well as describe an evidenced based approach for treating this concern with older adults. This Capstone essay is worth up to 250 points. 
Students will choose one of the following presenting concerns that impact aging populations.
TOPIC: 
Loneliness/Isolation
1. Introduction (one paragraph): 
Briefly introduce the reader to the topic, using citations when necessary. End this paragraph with a sentence outlining what will be covered in the paper (“This paper will cover…”)
2. Literature Review:
1. Overview of Presenting Concern (.5 page)
1. Relevant demographics/statistics with this concern with older adults; applicable definitions/terms; related DSM-5 diagnosis, if applicable
2. Overview of evidenced-based treatment (1 page)
1. Summarize the central tenets of the therapy; Be sure to include at least two research articles that demonstrates effectiveness in treating the presenting problem in older adults
3. Treatment Plan (3 pages)
1. Identify three long term goals, with two short term objectives per goal
2. Identify at least five therapist techniques and interventions
3. Recovery Oriented Principles: Identify resources, programs, recommendations, and other client advocacy options for client (at least four)
4. Cultural Considerations: Discuss cultural factors that may impact treatment (ie., gender, ethnicity, sexual orientation, SES, etc.).
5. Legal and Ethical Issues: Describe potential legal and ethical issues that may arise given the presenting concern with an older adult
6. Faith Integration: Describe three ways to integrate faith into treatment.
3. Paper Requirements
1. Paper must be five to six pages in length
2. APA Formatted (Title page, No Abstract required, Reference Page)
3. Subheaders are required (Introduction paragraph is not labeled; however, the remaining sections must be labeled).
4. A minimum of five peer-reviewed sources (no websites) are required. The textbook can be used, but will not count towards one of the required five sources.
