1. In chapter 4, what happened that led Vinson to file a lawsuit? Explain, citing specific examples from
the text. What did the person Vinson accused say happened? Do you consider this a “he said/she said”
case (where you cannot really prove it because each side claims something different) or not? Explain.
2. Using what you learned from the WORD document I posted on sexual harassment, do you think what
Vinson experienced was quid pro quo or hostile work environment harassment? Explain, using examples
from the Thomas book.
3. In chapter 8, explain how what Harris experienced was similar or different to the Vinson case?
Would a “reasonable person” (see post on sexual harassment for this week) perceive what Harris
experienced at work as sexual harassment? Why did the author name the chapter “Taking it All
the Way to Sandra F-ing Day O’Connor? Explain, using examples from the text.
4. What did you find most interesting/surprising about the cases for this week?
5. Watch the film Bombshell or She Said (which are both based on real cases of sexual
harassment). What type of sexual harassment was portrayed in the film you chose? Give
specific examples. Given what you learned in the film, why do many women not report what
happened to them or hesitate to go on the record?
