This discussion addresses module outcomes 1 and 2. You will apply sociological theories to explain the origins of inequality and the consequences to society. Social inequality is central to the readings on Race, Class, and Gender. Based on the readings, you will refer to the main schools of thought in how inequality is created and maintained through race, class, and gender.

Before beginning this activity, be sure to read the Module Notes and the assigned readings and viewings. Use as much detail from the readings and other learning materials in the module as possible to answer the following questions.
Select one person from history who once or currently belongs to a minority group, about whom there is thorough, accurate information available about their life. Identify their social class, race and ethnicity and sex, gender and sexual orientation.
Describe their life circumstances, chances and outcomes (thus far, if they are still living) given their unique combination of statuses.
What can this individual’s experience teach us about the harms of inequality in our society?
